I have never lived in Canada but married to a Canadian citizen so I am writing this with her help and with my limited knowledge. I don't think 50K per year is enough, you may survive but living standard won't be as good, say, compared to Texas (if you are in CA then its different comparison). You pay more taxes, high insurance premiums, clothes are expensive etc. everything is higher. As per my bro-in-law, the sale price of houses in Houston is less that the cost of building house in Toronto (he is a financial consultant in Toronto). I heard socially Canada is better than US and have nicer people.
Heath care is free (not dental, vision etc.) but you eventually pay more taxes for that so if you are planning to bring your parents this could be good but for healthy young family basically you pay more taxes for health of others. Health care can be compared to US but not as good because there is cap on doctor's income (300K??) and many good doctors move to US.
TN is definitely good and hopefully it will remain for Canadian citizens and can be renewed with no cap for maximum years but but your dependents can not work with your TN visa.
I, myself, have applied for Canadian PR and should get it soon but that's just as stand by and won't move there unless I have to.

Just one H1B got promotion and that person had recent married a US citizen. Basically the company knew that its leverage over him is gone and in order to retain him they need to promote him. It is all a zero sum game my friend.

AC 21 and EAD are two completely disjoint things.
You can invoke AC 21 and switch to a different job and you could either use your EAD to join the new emplyer or even transfer your h1b to the new employer.

Its kind of confusing to make a one time donation.. and there should be two more options of $25 and $50 for one time contribution....

As mentioned by some others in the same thread: a lot of employers are also taking advantage of this situation.
i was one of those who was forced to file EB3 despite qualifying very well for EB2. The pretext is job description, although same job description has personnel applied for in EB2.
Quite a few of the EB3 crowd has had no choice, but to be herded in the slowest category to benefit the employer.
How can we highlight this?

When I applied for EAD in NSC (paper file) it took 45 days to approve. Now I applied EAD for spouse on June 10th, no update so far.

So, I think this is just another tactic to discourage people from getting the information thru FIA by charging some imaginary figure of $5k to get some basic information. This is the heights of Arrogance.

It all depends on the number of people on EB3 for each month from Nov 2001 to date. Since dont have the slightest idea, there is little we can do. if you can switch, go ahead and switch. Its no use speculating, data doesnt tell anything because sample size on that site is very small and the data is not up to date.
if an EB 3 switches to EB 2 is the visa deducted from the EB 2 quota or EB3 or both, i guess it should be EB2 ... considering USCIS..who knows.

Yes , its Free :D Anyway - lets talk with a 3rd person (maybe USCIS) and confirm. Its Free, if you read the EAD forms its clearly written that once some one pays $340 ( not other amount) it becomes FREE for ever. I just checked the EAD forms again before writing this post - let me PASTE from EAD forms if that clear the confusion.

1. (a)(8) Citizen of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, or Palau;
3. (a)(11) Deferred Enforced Departure; or

The visa restrictions, Cap and rules for H1 and H4 all were framed to protect American jobs. If H4 is given work permit then there is a fear that one more job may be taken from the American people. I am not telling it is correct but everyone are in that situation. Also we cannot resolve all the issues. L2 can work H4 cannot work is discrepancy. But one person working in a home will not have any stress especially when there is kid. We have to consider this is an advantage

I wonder why nobody takes up the cause for H4 visa holders who are mostly women and who becomes completely dependant on their husbands once they enter this country .With retrogression and the endless wait for GC it means losing all the skill sets that you have and all the opportunites that come along just because you donot have a EAD card. Worst of all nobody who speaks so much about womens emancipation seems to care.

I BEG to differ. I called USCIS today morning and the rep told me VERY CLEARLY that ANY application received on July 2 will be ACCEPTED as July 2 is the cutoff.
A few min later my spouse called and they told her, Everything would be rejected.
USCIS customer service center, currently cant differentiate their A** from a hole in the ground!!

mind your language.....i just wanted to get an update...there was a big momentum built around passing the i-485 provision and now we are postponing it till CIR....We are also changing lobbying firm....These are two significant changes. First, the initial promise made to members is not being delivered upon and second, we are changing a firm that we have utilized for a year. Are there some problems going on? May be, the firm ditched us.....Look, all these are questions going thru my head....That's why I posted the question....I am bold enuff to ask the questions, rather than sit back and blindly believe whatever is fed to me.....I do not own IV and I don't want to either....
Just a legitimate question amidst all the changes.....
