There is no doubt about NRIs are the prime reason for the real estate boom in India. It is tottally unbelivable that 2 bedroom flat in a normal second class town has gone to up to 40 lakes. Decent independent houses are in terms of crores in small cites. Two factors. One is foreign money and second in black money from local dadas/politicians. Also demand vs supply. The availble land is small and demand for that land is too high due to these two gropus.
I visited one of my NRI friends house in India, where he is not going to live as he is a US citizen. His parents already won two houses and they bought another house as a investment. This house in a recent development area in a small town where there is no high tech employment is avialable; In my feeling it may not worth 5 lakes; they were selling at 45 lakes. Even if anyone ready to pay 45 lakes there is no unit is avialable; everything was sold to NRIs. No resident won the houses in that area. All the dads and mos are baby sitting the houses. Renting alos not that easy. It is tottally unbelivable. I wonder why all the NRIs buying house in India and increisng the house price? The guys working here (or any part of the world) and not going to live in India, why government should allow to buy the house and increse the price? Everyone tries to do real estate bussiness there. That is the main reason for price increase.
Is is sad. All these NRIs are going to learn a very valuable lesson. Speculation is not a good strategy for investing. A lot learned that in the past few months here in USA. In a year we will be seeing the full blown post bubble correction in India. If one can rent an apartment for 15,000 why would one buy it for 50 lakhs. The interest alone on 50 lakhs is 50,000 every month. It is like buy and rent it and loose money. Instead why don't they deposit in a bank and get 50,000 every month:confused:

Ah, so you are looking to purchase in Hyd. Here is the latest, if you already don't know.
There is a talk about HMDA which is an agency to overlook a project extending the Hyderabad to Bhongir in the East and to Medak in the west.
There will be strict implementation of plans for constructing new houses.
Realtors have already started marketing this and extracting high prices.
If you do have time to research, you can purchase land for cheap (around 3-4 thousand rupees per sql yard) in the outskirts.

No body is getting paid here to have a tester test it. Yes I like the idea of donor for paid members. There are 31000 members not even 2500 members are contributing. This is one way of making them pay for the services or the info you get from the forum.
I support you reddymjm. It is easy to criticize. Every one should understand this. I was supporting paid forums from the begining. Nothing comes FREE in this world.
Many of my known people who are paid as much as me or even more do not even think of contributing any amount. But they keep questioning when do we get green cards.
We were habituated to criticize others as we were grown to spoon feed by our parents.

mbawa.. It is always nice to sit on the side and blame it all on the leaders here. First thing you have to remember is that these poor/great folks (poor for representing people like you and great for working for representing all immigrant hopefuls) are really working for YOU and me. It is quite convenient to blame others than doing things yourself. If you think you are any better, why not come up with your USEFUL/GREAT ideas and see if the IV core respects those ideas or not. Lobbying or not, when the government is ready to think about CIR or immigration in general, I am pretty sure that IV can make OUR voice heard. Got the point?
Problem is not the members but the overall stratergy. I understand ur emotions but certainly we need change and action. Without aggressive stratergy that can punch the noses of people against our agenda, we will not be successful. As I said - this is not personal at all. I know some of core people very well and they are competent and bright boys. This has to do with overall stratergy and we need to be bit more agressive .Without a new team which will bring in a coordinated effort & energy into this , we will not make it. CIR may get passed and other immigration categories may benefit at our cost if we don't change our course . Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

We applied on 8th Aug for AP; Got receipts with receipt date of 13th Sep from NSC. I got my AP approved on 14th Nov. but we are waiting on My wife's AP since. Haven't received it.
So we are planning to get our H1/H4 stamped and travel without AP. My Lawyer thinks it shouldn't be a problem

I emailed them not as me but as my employer( point of contact mentioned in the labor petition) and it works they send me a copy of the labor approval to my house along with a copy to my employer and one to my attroney. It really works.

One of the most balanced views on this topic I have heard!
I think life inside home is better in India than US. And life outside home is better in US than India. What do you think?
I am only son to my parents (aged 50s). I must go back whenever India sends a man or women to Moon. Just kidding.. Will go back by 201X.
Currently I am in India on a vacation of 45 days. I came to India with lot of enthu after a long gap of 2 years. But as someone said, India cannot be compared with US, outside home. And yea, USA can't be compared to India, inside home :D
I have to postpone the idea of returning for few more years for the following reasons, and yes, I want GC meanwhile.
_ Reasons to stay and stay longer in USA _
1) It's money, honey :D
2) A nice Indenpendant House in Vizag or Hyd. I am long way to get there. You know what I mean.
3) I haven't earned enough to copy & paste my lifestyle in US yet. I mean no car for my dad, no plasma tv in India, no 'retirement' fund for my parents so that they can live on their own. You know the rest.
4) My wife has just _resumed her career on H1B after being seated at home for 3 years on H4. As you can guess, we left hopes on EAD. My PD Nov 05. I would prefer that she work in USA for couple of years, before which we can return.
4) Last, but not least, I want to gather more "onsite" experience and go from programmer analyst to something I want to be, when I return to India.
_ Reasons to go back to India _
I belived in the philosiphy of helping yourself first, then family and then society.
0) Will come back to India to live with my aging parents.
1) Help my society (vote, pay taxes, charity, transfer of ideas from Western World, creation of employment and much more)
2) Enjoy food, movies, language, various cultures of India.
3) Travel world and not just USA - through my IT career.

By the way, since when 100's of students mean a couple of folks? So far I have taught about 100 such students. And I and my colleagues have been observing problems with such students for over last 5 years or more (about 1000 students). These are not anomalies, rather statistically significant observations.
And, by the way, (almost) all these students join Indian consulting companies after graduation, which means (at least those) consulting companies care nothing about the quality of the employees. Banning H1-B access to such consulting companies will be of desirable, indeed.
You seem to be a guy from north India who dislikes anything remotely connected to south, or probably you are envious of the strides that south India has taken, anyways I do not care what YOU or Wadhwa says about the quality of education in some parts of the world.
I do not know how this discussion is going to help our cause.

Coming to ur note , I guess , people who apply from F1 to I-485 you are referring are not the primary green card applicants. They are dependents on primary applicatns. If not, can you tell me what they are studying and how they can apply green card from F1? I am not aware of this route.

Guys good news from my side. Just got most awaited Card production Ordered emails for my wife and my son. I have not received the email for myself though. When I checked the status on Case Status Online site, I found that 485 for all three of us have been approved.
My priority date was Oct 2004 at NSC. Came to US in Feb 2000, so almost 8.5 years of waiting is finally finally over. I hope that NSC picks up the pace and approve all the people who are current.
Trust me!! I am not going anywhere. I will enjoy my green but at the same time will always work relentlessly to get the immigration reforms. I also prey from God almighty that all my friends/family members stuck in EB2/EB3 will also get their GC ASAP.
Wish you all the best, even though I have crossed the fence towards the greener pasture, I am always there to lend you a hand and help you climb up and jump across the fence.
