let's discuss effective ways forward rather than the pessimistic tone I see here.
Bestin: the core is involved. Some of the core are just very busy on IV stuff. I spoke with Aman last week he called me from the airport -- a trip to DC. Some people are cagey about handing out personal details and while it is frustrating let's have some respect. I'm one of the few who puts their full name in signature, and my user id is my name, and I say I'm from NY, so it only takes a telephone directory search to find my phone number and address. But you won't hear me calling people names for not giving contact details. Some people are more reserved than others, for example, my wife used to live in a communist police state where the state was out to get you, so she is more reserved. Frustrating I know. Enough said, let's look for positive things to do.
SO ON THE POSITIVE SIDE:
I got another 33 letters this week, and expect about same next week, and have 2 US citizens who will likely get me another 20. So I might make 100+.
My total in hand so far: 43
I'd be happy to continue for several weeks or months, but will go with what the core decides for drawing the line.
TIP:
Where you know someone who works at a different place to you ask them to collect some letters from their work place and give them to you or mail them to you. I'm expecting to get at least 20 that way next week alone, maybe more later.

As Chanakya is still getting rave reviews :) let me break this down a little more. OPs gripe can be broken into three categories:
1. What is IV doing with all the money collected.
2. What is IVs specific plans for the future/ what has it done in the past
3. Donor forum and general compliants about the concept
# 1. I think trusting IRS and CPA will go a long way. I am not aware of any donations being collected by IV on personal names. Have you sent any money to an individual and not IV the org ?
# 2. About us lists items that IV has done in the past. Do they meet your expectations ? Maybe yes or maybe no. What does advocacy mean ? For both the points, doing some research will help. Why we did not have stellar succeses with past campaigns ? Advocacy, how quickly can we be successful. Google and find out.
#3 Donor forum. Search the forums and find out how much money was collected by campaigns mentioned by ChanduV. Pennies. Two different reasons in my opinion as to why the donor forums have been created. 1. obviously to collect donations 2. the section has 'premium' content like regular updates, quick responses from core, information which cannot be made available publicly without harming the efforts etc.
All the other things about donor forum is nothing but emotional garbage.

Frist Immigration Bill Would Target Bosses
By SUZANNE GAMBOA, The Associated Press, Friday, March 17, 2006; 5:28 PM
From WaPo online:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/17/AR2006031701455.html
... Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., faulted Frist's bill for not addressing what to do with illegal immigrants already in the U.S. "Countless businesses rely heavily on their labor and it's long past time to provide legal avenues to bring this underground economy out of the shadow," he said.
...More than double the number of employment-based green cards, from 140,000 to 290,000, and make more employment based visas available to unskilled workers. It also would free up other visas by exempting immediate relatives of U.S. citizens from being counted in the annual pool of 480,000 visas, and increase country-by-country ceilings on family sponsored and employment-based immigrants.

Well, I just made my third call and the lady sounded quite confident that applications that have been received and are in processing are not affected by this and it's only NEW applications that would be coming in after July 2 that are affected. I understand what you're saying that they don't assign it but I have read before that they "assume" each application qualifies unless they eventually figure out otherwise. And now I am making my own assumption that if they assume it qualifies then it's assumed a visa is indirectly assigned? Wait, I'm confused:D.
If you filed early May and received a Notice of Receipt from USCIS, that means your I-485 is already in process, and you have been assigned an Alien Number already. The announcement from INS is very clear, "Effective Monday July 2, 2007 there will be no further authorizations in response to requests for Employment-based preference cases". It says EFFECTIVE JULY 2 and "NO FURTHER" right? That means the only ones affected are applications received July 2 and onwards.
I don't know what you are confused about. Ther is nothing confusing about it at all. Maybe you're just a plain dumbass.

(1) Write down the number and what you want to speak in a piece of paper
(2) If you are working, you may want privacy. Step out of the office for a 10 min break with your cell phone
(3) Go to a calm place - could be a garden or a lobby or a rest area or a parking lot or inside your car.
(4) You can also go for a small ride in your car (make sure you have hands free or bluetooth)
(5) Just call the number
(6) There is a person on the other side who is very much human like you
(7) This person is a staff and is doing his/her duty.
(8) Speak out clearly - have a pleasant conversation
(9) After the call - feel proud you are a part of democratic process
(10) Update folks on IV that you proudly finished an action item
(11) Encourage others to do this
Keep smiling and be happy
God bless us all :)

I think the issue of Economic Stimulus Package and H-4 dependents is losing the momentum. Where is everyone????
I agree ---- I think the momentum is slowing down...
at least can we not take any legal action for issuing out a rule (you can file MFS and get the stimuls and then amend MFJ) on 04/14/2008??? what about people who filed a long time ago as MFJ?? Because once you filed MFJ, the action is irrevocable!?! In my honest opinion, this stupidity of issuing out a clause the day before filing deadline deserves some "stir"!!

I genuinely broke out into a laughter when i saw this! yeah, "THATS ALL HE CAN DO." Dude! Presidents are so lame! :-) ha ha (sarcasm intended).
With out passing the bill any PRESIDENT CAN NOT DO ANYTHING even if he wants to help us.
CONGRESS HAS TO PASS THE BILL. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY FOR US.
President can do ONLY VETO ON ANY BILL OR HE CAN GO TO WAR ON ANY COUNTRY. THATS ALL HE CAN DO.

I recommend you apologize to MC and don't make this a circus
Not sure what you mean here. MC is not angry at me, If anything he is angry at snathan :D
Also i admire you digging through my old emails to get that nugget of information out but you wasted your time going through the old posts unless it has opened your minds at last but wait !!!!! what am i thinking. You belong to the 2 gang !!!!
Also the reason for the . is very simple. I was using it to test whether my post was still being blocked by IV or not. ironic huh :)
thats pretty ridiculous, why don't you prove it
Now i don't need to prove anything. You have done that by your reply.

This press release only shows that it is an administrative/executive fix. Either it is USCIS or DOS or the President, is what I do not know. But clearly, it is something not mandated by legislation, else USCIS/DOS would be breaking several laws by continuing to use the old bulletein.

I have I-140 with substitution pending since March of this year. Can I file for 485 now or do I need to wait for I-140 approval? Thanks.

even though I am in EB2..from my personal experience, the kind of IT contracts/jobs/assignments we (most of us) do, I dont think there is anything that an EB2 qualified can do which EB3 cannot do.
I saw threads (this site or elsewhere) where EB2 ppl felt superior and blasted the threads where EB3-EB2 conversions were discussed.
IMHO, I would always say, if it is legal and possible and beneficial, ppl should think of conversion.

Well, I've got a few reasons.
1. I don't like the attitude that comes along with the people that speak it.
2. I just don't like the language.
3. I don't live anywhere close to a place where I must know Hindi to survive.
4. The Indian Constitution recognises English as a subsidiary official language.
5. If I have survived as long as I have without knowing Hindi, I'm sure I can survive without knowing Hindi for the rest of my life.
Thaai mannae vanakkam!
Mate if you are an Indian there is no place in India where you can avoid Hindi. Hindi is our national language and that does not make it optional for you to speak or understand.
