Hello,
We have our 485 interview's next week @ the Baltimore Field Office. My PD is current for EB-2. My case is pretty straightforward so hopefully should not be a issue.
Would appreciate any comments from folks in MD who have been interviewed @ the Fallon Federal Building in downtown.
Particularly - can they approve our cases right there & then.? Will they stamp our passports for approval since PD is current for January 2011.? Can there be any issued with visa number not available, etc. ?
Any advice is appreciated.

No. You are forgetting the new applications in categories that are not backlogged (i.e., EB1, and EB2-row). They will essentially come in front of most applications that are in queue in back-logged categories (EB3 and EB2-[IC]).

Hi all, I have a question regarding my current situation. I'm currently working for this non-profit organization under my OPT that is good until the end of Oct of this year. My question is basically whether or not I can ask my employer (already agreed) to petition for me for an H1-b visa? Can I still apply right now before my OPT expires or would it be better to apply next year on the first day of April? If I can get an approval for my H1-b would it be good to get a TN in the meantime and later have my employer petition me for an h1-B then?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to waste the opportunity to apply if I can get one at this time. I heard is better and easier to apply for one while under OPT than TN to H1-B but I'm not sure or rather confused about this!

If my priority date is current based on March visa bulletin, till what date can I file for my 485? Do I have time until end of April?
You can file anytime after your dates are current.. Just don't take too long though, Remember if the dates retrogress again, then might get out of luck! Again!! So file it right away if you can...

Hello everyone!
My wife has filed for my immigration and AOS around a week back. I would be expecting the biometrics appointment letter to arrive by the 25th of August. Now, I got a call from India yesterday informing me about my grandmother being admitted in the hospital, almost breathing her last. The doctors have all but given up.
My question here is whether I can go to the USCIS office with the doctor's letters and all the remaining proofs to expedite my AP well before my biometrics are done? If yes, what else would I require in terms of documents? I can just barely wait getting it done, but I dont want to leave without the AP document.
P.S.: I haven't yet received any NOAs.

It is advisable to file change of status to h4 while in USA, no need to go back to India. After you get your h4 approved then you can go for stamping...
That is good approach, if
1. one is maintaining status at the time of H-4 Change of status application
AND
2. Person is not traveling out of USA in short term future

Hi, I have/had valid I-94 all the time. Recently I renewed my passport in US. But I renewed it 3 months after expiry of old one. I heard from friends that, you need to have valid passport for the entire period of H1B petition validity. Wondering, If am in trouble for not renewing my passport before it expired. Please give your opinions.

I have applied for AP (I131) on 8/14/09 and my I-485 got approved on 9/01/09. Is USCIS is going to return my I131 fee or is there anything I have to initiate from my end to get the refund?.

My attorney submitted at NSC I-485 , EAD , and Travel docs on 03 July, INS received it on 05 July, No news yet of receipt..
